Goodbye
This is my last article as the association’s chief executive – an occasion which is naturally tinged with some emotion. For me, the last decade has been hugely absorbing, very exciting, wholly satisfying and totally enjoyable – yet ten years is a fair length of time. There is such a thing as overstaying your welcome. I leave at an opportune time when a new government is in place which we hope will take this wonderful £110bn tourism and hospitality industry far more seriously than it has been taken in all the 13 years of the last administration. That can only be good for the industry. The industry won’t get all it wants but I feel confident that our arguments will be listened with care and sympathy.

How noisy are you? Livebookings Academy
In February 2010, Facebook reached 400 million users worldwide with 24 million active users from the UK. Twitter also boasted a triple-digit growth in 2009 and will soon reach 50 million tweets per day.
Knowing how to attract new customers to your restaurant's website through these social media sites is crucial in today’s techno savvy world - generating both interest in your restaurant and covers booked.
At the Livebookings Academy "How Noisy Are You?", we will introduce the current social media tools available; provide top tips on gaining a loyal following and creating a noise; explain the current monitoring tools; suggest some campaign ideas; and give examples of how the best people in the business do it.
"Excellent as usual. There isn't a restaurateur out there who wouldn't benefit from these sessions," Victoria Searl, Operations and Marketing Consultant.
