Bucks New University’s MSc in Health, Rehabilitation and Exercise will help give you the necessary skills to specialise in health rehabilitation and exercise for chronic and non-acute medical conditions.

ABOUT THIS COURSE:
Developed in close consultation with experts from the health and fitness industries, this programme adopts a multi-disciplinary approach which links medicine, kinesiology, exercise science and cultural responses to physical recreation and exercise.

On the course, you will study the pathophysiology of non-acute health conditions, learn to administer suitable fitness tests and design appropriate exercise programmes for cardiac patients, diabetics, hypertensive individuals and the obese.

It also combines theoretical and practical qualifications needed to work professionally in exercise rehabilitation.

This flexible course will allow you to continue working while studying and apply the knowledge acquired on the course to your working practice.

To minimise the time spent away from work, you can also utilise Bucks’ virtual learning package.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
If you are working, or looking to work, in a role with responsibilities for designing and supporting fitness programmes for participants with specific and non-acute health needs, then this course is for you.

You may already be working in the industry but wish to enhance your skills, or be medical personnel who have an understanding of chronic and non-acute health conditions but are looking to develop exercise programmes for rehabilitation.

COURSE CONTENT:
Stage one (postgraduate certificate):
* Contemporary Study of Chronic and Non-acute Health Conditions
* Fitness and Physical Exercise Science.

Stage two (postgraduate diploma):
* Socio-cultural Aspects of the Body, Health and Exercise
* Clinical Exercise Physiology.

Stage three (MSc):
* Research Methods
* Dissertation.

On successful completion of each stage, you will receive the relevant award: postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma or MSc, respectively.

Study mode: Distance learning over 18 months with ten two-day residential workshops
