2nd Anniversary for unique 'Hub'
10 Jan 2019
The first of its kind to be opened, January 2018 has seen the 2nd anniversary of The Healthy Hub, situated within the Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre.
The Healthy Hub, Stevenage is a unique 'one stop shop' offering support, advice, education and signposting for a variety of health and wellbeing topics to the community. From its original 4 partners, there are now 55 health & wellbeing 'partners' and the Hub is now expanding its outreach work to support even more vulnerable people.
So far over 14,000 people in the Stevenage community have received the help, advice and support they require for a host of health and wellbeing matters.
Stevenage Leisure Limited (SLL) has further supported the work of the Hub by setting up the Stevenage Community Fund to purchase specialist equipment to help people with more chronic disabilities become more active. So far the fund has raised over £39,500.
SLL has also recently received recognition across the range of its activities at recent award ceremonies. These have included a Highly Commended "Facility Operator of the Year" award at the recent Swim England National Awards, held at the University of Birmingham. 'AquaEd', SLL's Learn to Swim scheme, now has 12,000 adults and children learning to swim in a safe and supervised environment.
Tina Lander, SLL's Corporate Swimming Manager, said: "The successful delivery of our aquatic services is key in SLL's vision of improving the health and wellbeing of local communities. I am extremely proud that we have been recognised for our work with this award."
SLL was also shortlisted as a finalist for the Customer Service Award at the recent 2018 Hertfordshire Business Awards, held in the Knebworth Barns.
Recognition was also received as SLL were finalists in several categories at the 2018 WOW! Awards, held in the Pavilion at the Tower of London, for: Juanita Prescott & Sophie Hoskins of the Healthy Hub, Stevenage in 'WOW! You've Made a Difference' and Steph German & Natalie Darnell, of Saxon Pool & Leisure Centre for 'Customer Experience Team of the Year'.
SLL was also nominated as Quality Service Provider of the Year 2018 in the WOW! Awards Large Business category.
