This is a truly unique opportunity for an experienced Events Assistant Manager to work at the Copper Box Arena on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park near Stratford, East London which has become one of the most iconic venues in the UK following the London Olympics and Paralympics.

The Copper Box Arena is a major events venue and London's third largest indoor arena with a capacity of 7,500 spectators, hosting everything from international sporting events, to concerts, awards ceremonies, product launches and local community events. We're proud to host high-profile guests such as royalty, entertainment professionals and the sporting elite, but what makes us unique is that we're also an important hub for the community; we have over 2,000 prepaid members of our gym and fitness facilities and a number of local schools use the arena for everything from badminton to volleyball, netball and basketball.

Your role is to ensure that the venue delivers high-quality events and creates a customer and spectator experience that's second-to-none. This will include ensuring that your client, the event organiser, gets an excellent service and you work with them and all third party stakeholders to smoothly and proactively plan the event. You will also ensure that you work with our specialist contractors to deliver safe events and that all aspects of health, safety and operational delivery is compliant and managed to an excellent standard. Early planning is key, so you must have great organisational and communication skills.

With a venue that's in the spotlight as much as this, you'll never sit on your laurels and will continually monitor and review the standard of events as well as acting on customer feedback. This is a very hands-on role that will often be high pressured; you'll deal with everyone from the General Manager of the venue to event clients and key stakeholders including the London Legacy Development Corporation. You'll be responsible for everything from promoting events, managing budgets and ensuring that all health, safety and operational procedures are adhered to.

As you'll provide the overall leadership and management of the events at the Copper Box Arena, you'll have proven experience of managing and running events at a high-profile venue, ideally with an international and/or sporting element. You'll be comfortable both managing and delegating to stakeholders at all levels from senior personnel and head office to your local venue support team and external contractors. A passion for sport and the confidence to deal with a range a people at all levels will stand you in good stead for this role.

In return, we'll offer you a great career and on-going training and development, plus a range of benefits such as a pension scheme, ride to work scheme, discounted membership at all of our leisure centres and the experience of running events at one of the most exciting new sporting venues of recent times.

If you have the passion and skills for this role, apply now.

Closing date: 18th march 2018

All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications, age and location.

To be shortlisted for the role, internal applicants will need to demonstrate their commitment to GLL by becoming a Society member where eligible.
