Job description:

This is an outstanding career opportunity with a not for profit charitable organisation committed to providing a diverse and meaningful range of leisure and culture related activities for the local communities in which we serve.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will have a passion for delivering customer excellence.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day operation of the centre including health and safety, customer care, financial procedures and leading and managing multiple departments. The post includes working on a shift pattern, working an average of 40 hours per week. Each Duty Manager post is subject to its own agreed responsibilities.

The Opportunity
The role is very hands on is there are grounds maintenance works involved. All training will be given to the successful candidate.
We are a regional athletics track which comes with high standards.
The Person
The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, flexibility and a total commitment to customer service are essential. Successful applicants will be provided with full training in all aspects of this role.
A First Aid at Work certificate is essential.

We are looking to recruit an Operations Manager for Riverside Leisure Centre which is the flagship centre within the contract. Located in the heart of Exeter, Riverside Leisure Centre boasts great facilities including a 90 station gym, Queenax functional training studio, over 100 instructor led and virtual group exercise classes, indoor cycling studios, 6 court sports hall and 2 squash courts. The centre also has two swimming pools and a health suite which are currently closed for repairs following a fire in 2017. The Exeter contract operates 7 facilities on behalf of Exeter City Council.

The Opportunity
We are looking for an Operations Manager to take overall responsibility for the effective management and operation of the centre and ensure that the high standards of customer services are set and maintained. This position will allow you to develop your skills and reputation whilst enhancing safe and enjoyable usage of the facilities whilst increasing profitability. It is essential that you possess excellent communication, customer and client liaison skills. Ideally you will have a recognised qualification in leisure management, educated to degree level or NVQ4. The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of the leisure industry and have commercial and financial acumen.

You will manage and develop your staff to meet customer and operational requirements creating a dynamic, responsive and customer focused team through your communication and management styles. Candidates will be able to demonstrate a proven record of managing teams of staff, be commercially focused and have an understanding of financial forecasts and budget management, whilst consistently developing and improving operational procedures. Flexibility and commitment to customer service are essential.

You will support the delivery of the Aquazone swimming lesson programme at each site.

Hours available on a number of weekdays and weekends to meet the needs of the service, so you will need to be flexible and reliable

The Person
You must hold a Swim England Level 2 Swimming Teaching Qualification.

Aim to deliver high-quality services to our customers, the company prides itself on its exemplary health and safety record and commitment to staff.

Training opportunities are available to gain the Swim England Level 1 and 2 Swimming Teaching Qualification.
