Whitelands Farm Sports Ground, Bicester

The Role
This key role will report to the Centre Manager and will involve the day-to-day running of the Sports Ground and it's facilities, ensuring exceptional customer care and contributing toward the compliance of all health & safety and company policies. The post holder will take an active role in developing and promoting an exciting and innovative sports programme to increase the usage and profitability of the facility. The Duty Manager will be responsible for the supervision of a small team of Recreation Assistants, Cafe and Cleaning Staff. They will also be responsible for ordering and monitoring of stock, managing functions and dealing with general bookings and enquiries. The working hours will be based on a shift pattern. The successful candidate will be dynamic, demonstrate problem solving attributes, be able to use their initiative and think on their feet. They will be delegated specific areas of responsibility for which you will be accountable.

The Site
Whitelands Farm Sports Ground opened its doors in September 2017 and are looking to recruit Duty Managers for this incredible venue. The facility can be found on the prominent Kingsmere Development in Bicester, North Oxfordshire and boasts a full size 3G football pitch, full size grass football pitches, full size grass rugby pitches, cricket pitch, kitchen and bar facilities as well as a large function room.

Who we are looking for
The successful candidate should ideally have good knowledge of the sports and leisure industry, excellent communication skills, flexibility and a commitment to customer service. We particularly welcome applications from people with experience of catering and functions as we look to expand this area of business. You will ideally hold a current First Aid at Work qualification. This position is subject to a DBS check.

To be successful in this role you will need an engaging and honest personality with a natural ability to build strong relationships and put people at ease as well as a “can-do” attitude.

It is essential that you hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Health & Fitness. It will be desirable if you are also qualified and can deliver planned group exercise classes when required, so you will need experience of delivering exercise classes using first class customer service to a diverse client base.

Northcroft Leisure Centre’s facilities include a 63-station fitness gym, 25m 6 lane swimming pool and dedicated learner pool, sauna, multipurpose 6-court sports hall, 2 squash courts, dance studio, crèche, Bumpers children’s play area and a 75m Outdoor Pool.

We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic individual who is looking to progress their career into management. This role will be adapted to fit you and your skills to ensure you reach your goals. You will oversee the centre operation and support the management team in the day-to-day running of the centre and in addition you’ll be involved in numerous activities and programs on offer.

As a Duty Manager you will be trained to demonstrate full competence in the following areas; Financial reporting, processes and procedures, HR policies, procedures and practice, operational monitoring, facilities management and maintenance, customer service, sales and marketing.

We require individuals who are self-motivated and have high standards. With good time management and the ability to use initiative, the successful applicants will have energy and enthusiasm.

The role of a lifeguard requires an enthusiastic, responsible and hardworking individual to supervise a wide variety of swimming sessions, maintain the centres’ high standards of cleanliness and assist with general day to day operations. Our lifeguards are on hand to ensure our members are having a great time using our facilities whilst overseeing their poolside safety at all times.

The successful Lifeguard will have:
A UK recognised pool lifeguard qualification
Knowledge of health and safety legislation
Have previous experience of working in the Leisure Industry- this is not essential.
The ability to work proactively and flexibly within the team and work on own initiative.
Excellent communication skills
Experience of dealing with a range of customer queries/concerns in a professional manner.
Be willing to work shifts, including evenings and weekends
