North Devon Leisure Centre

This is an outstanding career opportunity with a market leader committed to providing a diverse and meaningful range of leisure and culture related activities for the local communities in which we serve.

North Devon Leisure Centre is based in the heart of Barnstaple. The centre comprises of a pool, fitness suite 100 station, dance studio, sportshall, squash courts, bowls hall, holiday club to name just a few of the facilities on site.

This key role reporting to the Operations Manager will involve the day to day management of the facility, taking full responsibility of the centre, including contract adherence, health and safety, customer care and leading and managing a team of staff.

The working hours will be based on a shift pattern which includes Bank Holiday and weekend working.

To ensure the highest possible standards of health & safety
An NPLQ is essential
It will be desirable that the post holder has First Aid at Work and a recognised qualification in Leisure Management, Sports Development, or related subject to a minimum NVQ 3

Rushcliffe Arena is a brand new, state of the art facility, comprising of a 25 metre swimming pool, teaching pool and splash area, 120+ station gym, 2 x group exercise studios, 1 x indoor cycling studio, 4 x court sports hall, sauna and steam room, 3 x squash courts, 6 x rink indoor bowls hall, snooker room and a cafe.

Reporting to the Centre Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of the centre including health and safety, customer care and leading and managing staff. An NPLQ is essential and First Aid at Work certificate and Pool Plant Operators qualification are desirable as well as a recognised Leisure Management qualification.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Centre Manager, the successful candidate will have a passion for delivering customer excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day operation of the centres including health and safety, customer care, financial procedures and leading and managing multiple departments. The posts includes early mornings, evenings and weekend shifts, worked over 40 hours per week. Each Duty Manager post is subject to its own agreed responsibilities.

The Person
A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is essential and a Pool Plant Operators Qualification and a First Aid at Work certificate is desirable as well as a recognised Leisure Management qualification.

The successful candidate should have previous knowledge of the leisure industry and a good level of experience of working in a face paced flagship facility. Excellent communication skills, flexibility and a total commitment to customer service are essential. Successful applicants will be provided with full training in all aspects of this role.

The Grange Leisure & Community Centre
This is an outstanding career opportunity with a market leader committed to providing a diverse and meaningful range of leisure and culture related activities for the local communities in which we serve.

LEX Leisure’s contract with Stratton St Margarets Parish Council is for 15 years. The site is at the heart of the local community and the hub for many local events as well as being an important facility for fitness and sporting activities

The Grange currently has comprehensive facilities including, 50-station fitness suite, a multi-use 4-court sports hall which is used for events,3G Pitch, MUGA, Function Suite and Community Bar. As part of the new contract the site will benefit from over £850k of investment including new studios, virtual spinning, re-configuration and new equipment for the gym plus an exciting new community space comprising reception/cafe and bar servery, soft play and games room.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Centre Manager to take overall responsibility for the effective management and operation of the centre, ensuring that high standards of customer services are set and maintained. This position will allow you to develop your skills and reputation whilst enhancing safe and enjoyable usage of the facilities and increasing profitability.

The Person
It is essential that you possess excellent communication, customer and client liaison skills. Ideally you will have a recognised qualification in Leisure Management or educated to degree level or NVQ4. You can demonstrate knowledge of the leisure industry and have commercial and financial acumen.

You will manage and develop your staff to meet customer and operational requirements creating a dynamic, responsive and customer focused team through your communication and management styles.
