We have a fantastic opportunity to join our SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast team as a full time Senior Mammal Trainer.

About the Role
The roles available are focused on ensuring that our guests are having the most amazing experiences and here at Merlin we have a real focus on FUN! Our team members are the friendly welcoming faces of SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast.

The successful candidate will support the Mammals Manager and have diverse tasks including ensuring Mammal displays and behind the scenes areas are maintained adequately, preparing animals diets and participation in animal presentations. This role is perfect for someone looking for an opportunity to work with seals and live a great life style on the sunshine coast.

About You
In order to be successful in this varied role the ideal candidate will demonstrate these essential and desirable requirements:

Essential
- Understanding of operant conditioning principles
- Excellent public speaking and visitor services skills
- Excellent observation and record keeping skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to swim confidently and be able to lift 20kgs
- Hold a Blue Card prior to commencement

Desirable
- Bachelor degree in biology, zoology, psychology, related field or a certificate in captive animal management or similar.
- Current drivers licence
- First aid or oxygen resuscitation training
- At least 5 years’ experience in the marine mammal training field or similar

Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium is an awe-inspiring experience with interactive exhibits that transport visitors from the underwater seahorse kingdom of our local Port Phillip Bay to the icy plateaus of Antarctica.

About the Role
We have an amazing opportunity for you to join our team here at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium as a Full Time Assistant Bird Keeper. This is an 11 month maternity cover role.

As an Assistant Bird Keeper you will assist with the care, well being and general husbandry of the King and Gentoo Penguins, within the Curatorial team. Key duties will include assisting to ensure a high level of animal health and welfare, feeding, cleaning, record keeping and monitoring of life support systems. This position also has diving responsibilities when required.

This role will be covering a Tuesday through Saturday rotation, so the ability to work weekends is essential. Additional days may be required.

About You
The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for guest experience, conservation and a focus on fun.

Holding a degree in Zoology or similar, you will also have experience in animal husbandry (preferably birds) and maintaining daily contact with a living collection of plants and animals in a varied building climate. Experience in Life Support Systems is essential.

You will be an exceptional communicator and are able to use your vast work experience to work well in a successful, fast paced team. This role does involve cleaning the exhibit and restocking of snow daily, so some level of physical fitness is also required.

Your ability to multi-task and have a flexible and adaptable approach along with high attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines and have demonstrated planning, organisational and time management skills are desired.

About the Role
Reporting to the Admissions Operations Manager, you will supervise the Admissions team to drive a culture of operational excellence and support. Our Duty Supervisors lead the way to ensure our teams are motivated, achieve their targets, and that an incredible guest experience and Health & Safety is the main order of business. As the first point of customer contact, you are able to adopt a strategic focus to continually improve and develop our department whether that is from cluster and annual pass sales, or customer satisfaction and mystery shops.

Working closely with all our attraction Operation Managers and Key Business Support functions, this role will provide an exposure and a great platform to reach the next step in your career, learning each area of the business including; SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo and Madame Tussauds Sydney.

About You
The ideal candidate must have a true passion for guest experience with a focus on fun. You will be proactive in your approach to engaging staff to deliver excellent customer service with a focus on upselling techniques to meet business sales targets. Previous supervisory experience in a similar role is a plus, but a desire to work in the entertainments industry is essential. You will be a leader who is capable of delivering feedback to staff and maintaining a spirit of best in class customer service.
