Qualified tutors (minimum Award in Education and Training or equivalent) and qualified assessors (Award in Assessing or equivalent) across a number of disciplines and locations are required.  We may also consider applicants who do not yet hold training and assessment qualifications, depending on skills and experience.  It’s important to note that these roles are weekend focused and can fit around existing work commitments.

As a Lifeguard, you will work a 37.5 hour week, which will include evenings and weekends. Whether you work at the Outdoor Pool or at the Indoor Pool in the Fitness Centre you will be required to act as a professional lifeguard on poolside and carry out cleaning duties whilst off poolside.

As well as performing these duties whilst you are at the Outdoor Pool, you will also help cover reception where you will be required to deal with members and their guests both face-to-face and over the phone. You will also be expected to help ensure the reception area including the shop is clean and presentable and that shop sales are processed correctly. Whilst you are up at the Fitness Centre you will be required to do setups in the Dance Studio, help the supervisors as and when required and will assist in keeping Fitness Centre areas clean and tidy.

Candidates with a current Lifeguard qualification are strongly preferred; however, we will consider candidates without. Previous experience as a Lifeguard / Pool Attendant is desirable but not essential; you will need to have exceptional customer service skills and be confident whilst staying calm in all circumstances. The National Pool Plant Operator Certificate is our primary course. It covers everything you need to effectively maintain a swimming pool, spa or water feature.

This course is approved by the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG). This means that our training is of the highest standard, meeting PWTAG guidelines which are widely viewed as best practice.

You will learn about circulation, filtration, disinfection, pH correction and heating of pool water. You will also learn how to maintain water which is safe and pleasant to swim in, how to correctly test pool water and understand how to restore it to ideal conditions.

We require an individual who are self-motivated and have high standards. With good time management and the ability to use initiative, the successful applicants will have energy and enthusiasm.

The role of a Swimming Instructor requires an enthusiastic, responsible and hardworking individual to instruct and supervise a wide variety of swimming lessons. Our Swimming instructors are expected to carry out various lessons to a high standard.

The successful Swimming Instructor will have:
ASA Swimming instructor level 2 certificate.
Knowledge of health and safety legislation
Have previous experience of working in the Leisure Industry- this is not essential.
The ability to work proactively and flexibly within the team and work on own initiative.
Excellent communication skills
Experience of dealing with a range of customer queries/concerns in a professional manner.
Be willing to work shifts, including evenings and weekends

Successful applicants will be provided with full training in all aspects of this role.

This position requires a DBS disclosure and the ideal candidate will have obtained their swimming teaching level 2, have excellent communications skills and have a high level of customer service.

5 hours per week - Saturday 10-12 and a Sunday 9-12 with the possibility of increasing on this with 1-1 lessons and the potential in the future for more hours during the week, in additional to holiday and sickness cover.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team as an apprentice in fitness, your training in fitness will be paid for as part of the role.

As an apprentice within our gym, you will develop your fitness skills and experience, you will be encouraged to participate in group fitness sessions and build up to running your own classes. Training will accompany your own apprenticeship specific learning to enable you to deliver our award winning empower support program, design personal programs for clients and advise them on healthy lifestyle options.

In addition you will also provide high levels of customer service to all clients and prospects, there will be a requirement for you to be involved in all aspects of gym operations including maintenance, health & safety, lead generation, prospecting and operation of the reception.

Gurnell Leisure Centre in Ealing, West London is looking for a Recreation / Leisure Assistant Apprentice. If you love sport, fitness and exercise, this apprenticeship could help you build a career out of your passion.

The Recreation / Leisure Assistant Apprenticeship is a hands-on and active role. You could be doing anything from Lifeguarding a pool to setting up a sports hall for a badminton or football session. Whatever you're doing though, rest assured you'll have all the support of a big, friendly team behind you as well as proper training to give you the confidence and knowledge to do your job well.

You'll need to:

Be a strong swimmer - you'll have to do a timed swim test before you start
Be friendly - you'll be helping lots of our customers
Be hard-working - our leisure centres open weekends and early mornings (don't worry, you won't have to do them all the time!)
Enjoy learning - we'll train you to get qualifications including a Level 2 NVQ in Leisure Operations and your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
