Course description:
National Pool Plant Operator Certificate

The National Pool Plant Operator Certificate is our primary course. It covers everything you need to effectively maintain a swimming pool, spa or water feature.

This course is approved by the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG). This means that our training is of the highest standard, meeting PWTAG guidelines which are widely viewed as best practice.

You will learn about circulation, filtration, disinfection, pH correction and heating of pool water. You will also learn how to maintain water which is safe and pleasant to swim in, how to correctly test pool water and understand how to restore it to ideal conditions.

The National Pool Plant Operator Certificate lasts for three years.

Level: Intermediate – although no prior certificate is needed to attend the course, beginners are advised to complete the National Pool Plant Foundation Certificate first
Duration: 3 days
Training Format: Face to Face
Assessment: Multiple choice test and a work based assignment
Certification: The National Pool Plant Operators Certificate. This is awarded by IQL UK – the body for The Royal Life Saving Society – for three years
Fee: £299.00, £239.00 with CIMSPA discount

Who is the course designed for?

The course is aimed at anyone involved in and responsible for the day to day operation of pool plant. This includes local authority employees, schools and private pool owners. Course content

- Maintaining swimming pool hygiene
- Controlling chlorine and chemical levels
- Managing water supplies and water treatment
- Testing for pollution and parasite infection
- Maintaining pipes, circulation and filtration
- Promoting health and safety
- Disinfecting water
- Balancing pH and alkalinity
- Diagnosing and testing water
- Making savings on heating, ventilation and energy

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

ASA Level 2 Teaching Swimming Qualification

The ASA Level 2 Teaching Swimming Qualification develops your knowledge, skills and abilities as a Swimming Teacher.

It builds on the ASA Level 1 Swimming Assistant qualification and gives you the skills to independently deliver swimming lessons.

Level: Intermediate
Duration: 7-8 days
Training Format: Face to Face

Who is the course designed for?

Anyone who has an ASA Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) qualification who wants to become a Swimming Teacher.

Course content

The ASA Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification course covers the core knowledge that is required to become a qualified Swimming Teacher, including:

- Planning and preparation of teaching activities
- Delivery of prepared activities within a session
- Monitoring and evaluating a series of swimming lessons
- Roles and responsibilities within a learn to swim programme
- Health & Safety in the aquatic environment

Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age and hold the ASA Level 1 Swimming Assistant in Teaching or equivalent ASA qualification certificated after 1994.

It will enable you to actively support a qualified Swimming Teacher in the delivery of a pre-prepared session.

Training Format: Face to Face and Blended Learning

Blended Learning is a more flexible approach where you can complete theory elements of the course online through a virtual pool environment and interactive videos prior to the practical workshops.
