The Role

The primary focus of the Leisure and Sports Manager role is to deliver excellent service to all members and guests, by managing the leisure facilities, ensuring a smooth operation and compliance with health and safety regulations. You will assist with the management of the leisure team and develop membership and revenue.

Flexibility is essential as the role requires you to work weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.

The Person

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and engaged leader who has already gained exposure in a 5 Star or Private Members setting.

This is a new and exciting role at Beaverbrook and one which will grow as our leisure offering increases.

Some of the key skills that we are seeking are:

- First Aid at Work trained (or similar) & Trainer
- Fire awareness trained (or similar) & Trainer
- In-depth knowledge of physiotherapy, anatomy and fitness
- Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail
- Confident in making decisions
- Proven experience in a similar role

We are Chessington World of Adventures Resort and we are part of the magical Merlin Entertainments!

Heading up our internal audit processes and procedures to ensure compliance with Health & Safety, this role will be responsible for managing the Park Operation’s safety records, COWSP’s, training reviews and managing recruitment. There will be plenty of auditing, reviewing and reporting as well as communicating to the wider business and checking back that records have been updated accordingly. Reviewing the operational designs and manuals associated with Park Operations is also a key part of this role. Reporting to this position is a Compliance Co-Ordinator, so you will be responsible for managing their daily workload and annual PDP reviews.

We are looking for the following skills and experience;

* Previously worked in a customer facing role with knowledge of guest care, service and recovery
* Have the ability of capturing the attention of a large group of people, remaining composed and confident at all times, even when under pressure

This role is full time, permanent, averaging 40 hours per week and will include weekends and bank holidays as required.

About the role
As part of the lively and fun team (based just down the road from Chessington World of Adventures Resort - another one of our fantastic attractions!) you’ll be providing day to day line management of a team of Guest Support Advisors, leading them to deliver outstanding levels of customer service. You will champion high standards of performance in line with Merlin values, ensuring high levels of productivity, motivation and morale within the team. Starting each day with inspiring and informative daily briefings and answering day to day enquiries from agents, you will ensure that the team have the information that they need to provide excellent customer service to our guests.

Our Customer Service Centre is a 24/7 operation and as a result you will work 5 days out of 7 on a shift basis of early, late or nights on a rostered basis. Contracts are on a fixed-term basis until 4th November 2018, with the opportunity to extend the contract for an additional year, subject to performance.

About you
We are looking for the following skills and experience:
* Previous team leader/supervisory experience in a customer focused industry.
* Actively keeps up to date with Merlin and external Contact Centre developments and working practices.
* Possess excellent IT skills - a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential.

Activity Leadership Apprenticeship

What will the role involve?

The Activity Leadership (Multi Skilled Diploma) Apprenticeship, can be your first step to a career in the Leisure Industry, as an Activity Leader.

This apprenticeship will give you a nationally recognised qualification in a range of different leisure roles, in order to become an integral part of the leisure team.

Across the 12 month apprenticeship you will gain a:

• NPLQ Pool Lifeguard Certificate
• Fitness Instructor Certificate
• Activity Leading Certificate

• Leisure Operations Certificate

As part of your apprenticeship, you will work within a fully operational Leisure Facility gaining the skills required to safely operate in all areas. As part of this role, you will be identified as an Activity Leader and required to deliver safe, fun and effective activity sessions to a range of different leisure customers, utilising the different areas of the facility. You will be required to complete your apprenticeship qualification in line with your working hours and link into your working practices to demonstrate the competencies you have gained, across all certificates.

Swim Test

If you are invited to interview for this role you will be required to complete a swim test as part of the interview process, in order to be considered for the role you must be able to demonstrate you are able to do the following.

• Jump/dive into deep water
• Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds
• Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water and then tread water for 30 seconds
• Surface dive to floor of pool (deepest part)
• Climb out unaided without ladders/steps and where pool design permits
