We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Sports Grounds & External Operations Manager to be responsible for the highest standards of maintenance of all outdoor sports playing surfaces and amenities across the University of Oxford sports estate, together with external tender contracts.

Reporting to the Director of Sport, you will manage a team of grounds staff to ensure the cost effective delivery of services and end user satisfaction.

You will have substantial relevant experience in sports pitch provision and maintenance, multi-site staff management, possess excellent communication skills and sound fundamental budget planning and control skills.

A current driving licence is essential for this role as you will be required to drive vehicles and tractors on public highways.

Job description:
We are looking for suitably experienced and qualified professionals to join the Sports Department team as full-time Lifeguard/Sports Assistants. You will ideally hold an RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) but training will be available for the right candidates who do not hold this qualification.

You will work throughout the entire Sports Complex at Iffley Road, with specific involvement within the swimming pool, gyms, sports halls and multi-purpose room. Sports staff work on a well-balanced shift rota which includes evenings, weekends and early mornings. The rota includes a 6-hour weekend shift once per fortnight, alongside two regular days off each week (including one weekend day). Working hours are an average of 36.5 per week over a set 2-week shift pattern.

Construction work at Iffley Road, which includes an additional sports hall and multi-purpose room, is due for completion in early 2018 and you will need to be able to work enthusiastically and flexibly as part of a team to ensure a smooth transition to the new facilities. Excellent opportunities for personal and professional development are available.

Sports facility under new management seeks vibrant individuals for new team!

The facility can be found in Kidlington, North Oxfordshire and boasts a sports pavilion, two cricket grounds, three rugby pitches, a football pitch and the largest area of public open space in the village.

This key role will report to the Centre Manager and will involve the day-to-day management of the facility, taking full responsibility of the facility at key times to include Health and Safety, customer care and managing bookings. The post holder will take a lead role in developing and promoting an exciting and innovative sports programme to increase the usage and profitability of the facility.

The working hours will be based on a shift pattern. The successful candidate will be dynamic, demonstrate problem solving attributes, be able to use their initiative and think on their feet. You will be able to manage a team and ensure the sound operation and safety of your team and customers during your duty shift. You will be delegated specific areas of responsibility for which you will be accountable. We are seeking managers with expertise in events, functions and catering; as well as sports development and club partnerships.

The successful candidate should have good knowledge of the sports and leisure industry, excellent communication skills, flexibility and a commitment to customer service. You will need a current First Aid at Work qualification. This position is subject to a DBS check.

Kidlington & Gosford Leisure Centre is part of the Cherwell Contract in North Oxfordshire. The role is varied and you need to be a fast thinker and work well under pressure. You will work on a rota which includes mornings, evenings and weekends and you must have a customer focused approach.

An National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, First Aid Qualification and Pool Plant Operators qualification is essential to the role as well as previous experience in managing a team and knowledgeable on Health and Safety. The most important thing is that you are a people person who is passionate and comfortable communicating with all ages.

The team work particularly closely with physiotherapists, specialist nurses and occupational therapists. Important tasks linked to the role are to assist with the management of the community exercise programme, regularly visit classes, develop and implement the annual evaluation of programme, point of contact for exercise programme, teach exercise classes, assist with website and provide administration support.

This role would be suitable for an enthusiastic exercise tutor with administration experience, who enjoys working with the community and making a difference.
