General Manager
This role requires an extraordinary manager with proven entrepreneurial flair and commercial ability, as well as the skill, energy and determination to drive and grow the business. The role
- To oversee the launch of a brand new facility

The candidate
- Must have a proven and successful track record of management experience within a leisure related industry, preferably within the health and fitness sector
- Must be passionate about customer service and be entrepreneurial in the way they manage
- Must have a proven track record in driving sales and coordinating local marketing activity as well as of recruiting and managing a successful team
- Ideally will have experience as a General Manager overseeing all business areas within a leisure facility or have substantial experience as a Fitness Manager or other similar operational function
- Ideally will be REPS level 2 or higher qualified or be prepared to qualify

Applicants for this head lifeguard role must hold a valid NPLQ qualification. Pool Plant Operators Certificate & RLSS trainer and assessor award is benficial but not essential. Applicants must also have a minimum of 2 years experience as a lifeguard and ideally at a senior or head lifeguard position.

Duties will include supporting and coaching the lifeguard team, operating pool plant and water testing and enforcing the NOP & EAP to ensure the safe and compliant running of the Waterpark and providing a fantastic service to our guests. You will also assist You will also be trained as a Duty Officer that will be opening and closing the Waterpark.

What qualifications will I receive?

Once you complete your gym instructor course, you will be awarded a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing – Gym Based Exercises.

It is a YMCA Awards qualification, accredited by Skills Active -recognised in all UK as well as internationally.

You will also be able to register with REPs at Level 2 and hence, gain 20 REPs points.

Discovery Learning is a leading fitness industry training body providing various courses recognised by all UK and international award bodies.

All of our fitness industry training courses are CIMSPA recognised and qualifying with Discovery Learning means that upon course completion you will receive a YMCA Awards Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (Skills Active accredited).

After you successfully qualify as a personal trainer, you will also be able to register with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and you can start working as a PT in the UK or internationally.

Who is this course for?

The Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training is aimed at pre-qualified Level 2 fitness instructors who want to start working with their own client base.

Our Level 2 and Level 3 course packages are designed for those wanting to work within the fitness industry and want to get both qualifications in one go.

What do I need to enrol?

In order for someone to be able to enrol for our Level 3 Personal Trainer Certificate, they would need an accredited Level 2 Fitness Instructor certification.

We can also provide these courses for those who are yet to qualify as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor or you can choose to study for these qualifications combined as part of our comprehensive and hands-on course package.

Previous academic qualifications are not necessary but we do require a good command of English (reading and writing), good communication skills and a fairly reasonable level of physical fitness.

Last but definitely not least, we do want our students to be dedicated and willing to learn and develop!

Payment options

If you are not able to pay the whole sum all at once, you can choose to pay in 12 monthly instalments with a 0% interest. We would just need an initial 10% deposit of the total course cost.

The Activity Leadership (Multi Skilled Diploma) Apprenticeship, can be your first step to a career in the Leisure Industry, as an Activity Leader. This apprenticeship will give you a nationally recognized qualification in a range of different leisure roles, in order to become an integral part of the leisure team.

Swim Test:
If you are invited to interview for this role you will be required to complete a swim test as part of the interview process, in order to be considered for the role you must be able to demonstrate you are able to do the following.
- Jump/dive into deep water
- Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water and then tread water for 30 seconds
- Surface dive to floor of pool (deepest part)
- Climb out unaided without ladders/steps and where pool design permits
