Legacy Leisure operates 6 leisure facilities across the Vale of Glamorgan on behalf of the Council and an exciting opportunity has arisen in this fantastic location for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join the Legacy Leisure team in the Wales and South West Region.

Reporting to the General Manager the successful candidate will be required to take overall responsibility for the effective management and operation of two sites including two swimming pools, two fitness gyms, studios, sports halls, and a health suite.

There will be an emphasis on increasing profitability and consistently enhancing both the financial performance and usage of the facilities within the Contract specification.

Successful candidates should have a recognised qualification in Leisure Management and have extensive knowledge of the safe operation of swimming pools and of the leisure industry in general. Health and Safety and Pool Plant Operation qualifications would be advantageous.

Excellent communication and customer / client liaison skills are essential. You should be able to manage and develop staff efficiently to meet the operational requirements of the Contract. Previous managerial experience in excess of three years and a proven track record of delivering on KPI’s is strongly recommended.

Candidates must have an understanding of financial procedures and be able to manage budgets for the contract whilst consistently developing and improving operational procedures. Flexibility and commitment to customer service are essential.

You will have previous experience of working with members of the public and managing teams of staff including events.

Hours may include daytime, evenings and weekends.

National Pool Plant Operator Certificate

The National Pool Plant Operator Certificate is our primary course. It covers everything you need to effectively maintain a swimming pool, spa or water feature.

This course is approved by the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG). This means that our training is of the highest standard, meeting PWTAG guidelines which are widely viewed as best practice.

You will learn about circulation, filtration, disinfection, pH correction and heating of pool water. You will also learn how to maintain water which is safe and pleasant to swim in, how to correctly test pool water and understand how to restore it to ideal conditions.

The National Pool Plant Operator Certificate lasts for three years.

Level: Intermediate – although no prior certificate is needed to attend the course, beginners are advised to complete the National Pool Plant Foundation Certificate first

Assessment: Multiple choice test and a work based assignment

Who is this course for?

The Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training is aimed at pre-qualified Level 2 fitness instructors who want to start working with their own client base.

Our Level 2 and Level 3 course packages are designed for those wanting to work within the fitness industry and want to get both qualifications in one go.

What do I need to enrol?

In order for someone to be able to enrol for our Level 3 Personal Trainer Certificate, they would need an accredited Level 2 Fitness Instructor certification.

We can also provide these courses for those who are yet to qualify as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor or you can choose to study for these qualifications combined as part of our comprehensive and hands-on course package.

Previous academic qualifications are not necessary but we do require a good command of English (reading and writing), good communication skills and a fairly reasonable level of physical fitness.

Last but definitely not least, we do want our students to be dedicated and willing to learn and develop!
