We are looking for an experienced individual to manage the gym and exercise class programme at South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre. As a versatile fitness professional with previous supervisory experience, you will monitor, motivate and lead the fitness team to ensure high levels of customer service and professional conduct.

The successful applicant will be fully accountable for the health and fitness provision; maximising its potential, through high participation numbers, increased income and high levels of customer satisfaction.

You will provide leadership to the fitness team, with responsibility for all aspects of staffing and health and safety whilst taking responsibility for the fitness class programme. In addition to this, you will be responsible for the promotion and selling of memberships.

You will ideally have a comprehensive employment history of working within a leisure centre or a similar environment and have in-depth experience of working in a supervisory or managerial role.

We require a suitably qualified and motivated individual to fill the role of Fitness Manager within our busy leisure facility. Reporting directly to the Centre Manager, you will assist in the service delivery and financial performance of the Fitness Suite and all Group Exercise Classes.

Duties will include the supervision of the public during their use of the gym including teaching and instructing patrons as and when required. You will be undertaking fitness assessments and induction courses, carrying out safety checks on all apparatus and equipment and ensuring that the facility is cleaned, prepared and maintained to a high level. You will also be required to maintain a rota of staff, monitor usage and performance indicators and drive the delivery of the sites membership sales utilising a robust Marketing & Communications Plan.

You may also be required to act as a Duty Manager as per the management rota.
Candidates should be suitably qualified to YMCA qualification or equivalent. A NPLQ qualification would be desirable.

Clifton Hill Sports Centre boasts a 40 Station Expressions Gym, 2 Squash courts, group exercise studio, therapy room and a multi-purpose sports hall. Reporting to the Centre Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for day to day operation of the centre including health and safety, customer care, financial procedures and leading and managing the staff. The post includes evenings and weekends. Each Duty Manager post is subject to its own agreed responsibilities.

A First Aid at Work certificate will be undertaken for this role.

The successful candidate should have previous knowledge of the leisure industry and experience of working in a busy dry facility. The facility can be found in Kidlington, North Oxfordshire and boasts a sports pavilion, two cricket grounds, four rugby pitches, football pitches and the largest area of public open space in the village.

This key role will report to the Centre Manager and will involve the day-to-day management of the facility, taking full responsibility of the facility at key times to include Health and Safety, customer care and managing bookings. The post holder will take a lead role in developing and promoting an exciting and innovative sports programme to increase the usage and profitability of the facility.

The working hours will be based on a shift pattern. The successful candidate will be dynamic, demonstrate problem-solving attributes, be able to use their initiative and think on their feet. You will be able to manage a team and ensure the sound operation and safety of your team and customers during your duty shift. You will be delegated specific areas of responsibility for which you will be accountable. We are seeking managers with expertise in events, functions and catering; as well as sports development and club partnerships.

As a Duty Manager you will be responsible for the day to day operation of the centre, and will be trained to demonstrate full competence in the following areas; financial reporting, processes and procedures, HR policies and procedures, operational monitoring, facilities management and maintenance, and customer service, sales and marketing. You will also be expected to carry out lifeguarding duties.

You will need to be passionate about health, fitness and delivering excellent customer service. Previous experience in managing staff in a leisure environment and knowledge of the fitness, leisure or health industries is advantageous. Ideally, the successful candidate will hold a degree in Sports or similar and a First Aid at Work qualification is desirable, however training will be provided.
