The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with the Stevenage Client Officer and line managing the centre managers. You will also monitor and assess performance against objectives, standards and targets for the management of the Stevenage Contract and take action when required to achieve them.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of managing multifaceted leisure facilities, a detailed understanding of financial procedures, along with a proven ability to achieve results. Knowledge and experience of HR and business planning is also essential.

The role of Receptionist/Lifeguard

Reporting directly to the Facility Manager we are looking for a high-quality Receptionist ideally with previous experience in the leisure industry. The person will also be required to undertake lifeguarding responsibilities for which training will be provided if you do not already have the NPLQ. The role will require flexible working with a shift pattern including early starts, evenings and weekends. This will be 40 hours a week full-time but we will also consider part-time candidates. The role is wide and diverse so we are looking for someone who has a broad and proven skill set that can encompass the requirements of the role. Join us this season as an Activity Instructor at one of Girguiding’s adventure-filled Training and Activity Centres! This will escape the traditional 9 to 5 working day and provide a hands-on, all-systems-go experience.

As an Activity Instructor, you will have to organise and deliver activity sessions in order to maximise the use of the centre and meet the needs of the client by communicating effectively with customers of all ages. You will need to instruct groups of all ages and abilities in a range of activities, including canoeing, kayaking and rock climbing. You must ensure that first aid/medical assistance is called at the earliest opportunity (or administered if you are first aid qualified to do this) and if an accident is occurred during a session, in collaboration with the adult responsible for the group. These accidents will need to be recorded in the accident book and that a full report is made of the circumstances surrounding it, so that preventative measures can be taken for the future that preventative measures can be taken for the future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for outgoing, friendly and confident people to join our team as Watersports Instructors on a fixed-term contract.

In this role, you will meet and greet our guests, offering them a warm welcome. You will coach and supervise them in a range of exciting activities, allowing them to have fun whilst also feeling safe and secure.

Other responsibilities will include providing instruction during tuition sessions and overseeing the supervision of the lake. You will also maintain all watersports equipment and complete all necessary checks.

You will be required to complete and maintain all necessary training courses and qualifications required to provide Outdoor Activity instruction and in accordance with Company and legal requirements.

This role will also involve you working closely with others within the department as well as across the wider Village, therefore excellent communication skills will be required.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role the successful applicant will be required to apply for disclosure with the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB). This disclosure, together with other selection information, will need to be satisfactory to the Company for employment to commence.

HOURS OF WORK

These are fixed-term contracts until September 2018.

You will be contracted to work 150 hours per 4 week period on a flexible basis. This means that your hours and days of work may vary each week but you will always receive your contracted hours per period.

Your shifts will be allocated on a rota basis and you will be required to work shifts on both week days and weekends. Your earliest start time will be 8am and your latest finish time will be 6pm. You will also be required to work public/bank holidays on a rota basis.

Watersports forms part of a larger department of Outdoor Pursuits, including Action Challenge, therefore you may need to cover shifts of this nature too.

ABOUT YOU

You must hold at least one of the following qualifications: BCU UKCC Level 1 or 2 Coach, Qualified Stand up Paddleboard Instructor, RYA Sailing and/or Windsurfing Instructor

Thamesmere Leisure Centre in Thamesmead, South East London is looking for a Recreation / Leisure Assistant Apprentice. If you love sport, fitness and exercise, this apprenticeship could help you build a career out of your passion.

The Recreation / Leisure Assistant Apprenticeship is a hands-on and active role. You could be doing anything from Lifeguarding a pool to setting up a sports hall for a badminton or football session. Whatever you're doing though, rest assured you'll have all the support of a big, friendly team behind you as well as proper training to give you the confidence and knowledge to do your job well.

You'll need to:

Be a strong swimmer - you'll have to do a timed swim test before you start
Be friendly - you'll be helping lots of our customers
Be hard-working - our leisure centres open weekends and early mornings (don't worry, you won't have to do them all the time!)
Enjoy learning - we'll train you to get qualifications including a Level 2 NVQ in Leisure Operations and your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

Located in the heart of Brackley, this Leisure Centre has a fantastic range of facilities for everyone to enjoy, including two state of the art fitness suite, fitted with the very latest equipment and a Group Exercise Timetable, with over 40 weekly classes on offer. Additional facilities include a Studio Cycling space, a workout studio, a sports hall, outdoor pitches, football changing village and a creche.

We are currently looking for a full-time gym instructor to work 40 hours per week on a rota, which includes daytime, evening and weekend shifts.

A level 2 gym instructor is essential and a level 3 personal trainer is desirable but not required. Further training can be given alongside this role.

All employees benefit from the complementary usage of the facilities as part of their employment. Ongoing training and development will also be offered during your employment.

This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
