Burnley City Council has opened a £4.2m sports centre at St Theodore’s Catholic Sports College which is open to the public outside school hours.

The Spirit of Sport complex comprises two tiers. The ground floor features an indoor, four-court sports hall for five-a-side football, badminton, basketball, cricket and circuit training.

The top floor – funded by Sport England – comprises a fitness room equipped with 25 stations by Precor and a dance studio with a ballet bar.

Outside facilities include floodlit tennis courts which convert to netball courts as well as a full length, floodlit, all-weather synthetic football pitch which can be divided into three six-a-side pitches for club training sessions or league fixtures.

Burnley Council’s leisure and recreation services department will operate and manage the sports centre during the evenings and weekends for community use. Details: www.burnley.gov.uk
