Approval given for Sunday dancing
Parliament has approved the Sunday Licensing Deregulation Order six years after it was first proposed. The Sunday Licensing Order will allow late night venues and charity events on Sundays to serve alcohol up to 12.30am on Mondays and to 2am on Mondays before a bank holiday (except Easter Day). Brigid Simmonds, chief executive of Business In Sport and Leisure (BISL) says BISL has worked hard for six years to change the law to allow nightclubs and charity events to take place on Sundays: You can now shop, bet, attend sports events and do everything else on a Sunday, but it seemed until now that you could not dance. The leisure and hospitality industry has seen endless pieces of legislation impose red tape since this Government took office, we are delighted that they have at last offered us something back.
