Cannon’s expansion programme is in full flow, with three more sites due to open this month (October).

The sites in Guiseley, Aylesbury and Letchworth, follow the launch of similar facilities in Leatherhead, Chicester and Hertford in September.

Based on a 25,000sq ft model, the sites incorporate a range of exercise, relaxation and social facilities including a 20m swimming pool, studios, fully equipped gymnasium, spa pool, sauna, steam room, relaxation and beauty treatment facilities, créche, bar and restaurant.

December will see a further two openings in Bristol and Paddington, the latter forming part of Paddington Central, the £750m mixed use scheme from Paddington Central Development Securities, due to open in late November. Together the new openings from Cannons represent an investment of £21m.

The new clubs will utilize Cannon’s management planning, which sees existing general managers move to new clubs where they gain such experience as pre-sales, while assistant general managers are promoted to general managers in existing gyms.

“This process of management development really works for us,” said a company spokesman.
