Cardiff City Football Club is set to be given a new deadline by Cardiff City Council for providing financial information on its proposed 30,000-capacity stadium.

The council is to allow the club until the end of September to produce new figures on the funding and financial viability of the £100m scheme, which includes a substantial additional leisure and retail element.

Securing tenants for the adjoining retail park has proved problematic.

Cardiff city council chief executive, Byron Davies, said: “This project is still continuing to move in the right direction, but the council must make sure it is completely satisfied about the viability of the stadium.”
