Image: Charles Green has acquired Glasgow Rangers

Charles Green, the former chief executive of Sheffield United Football Club, has completed the acquisition of Glasgow Rangers' assets in a deal reported to be worth £5.5m.

A new company structure - The Rangers Football Club - has taken control of the business and assets with immediate effect after Rangers Football Club Plc was liquidated.

It comes as a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) was formally rejected at a meeting of creditors after principal creditor HM Revenue and Customs opposed the proposal.
