Dawson to be BALPPA chief exec
Colin Dawson has been appointed chief executive of the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA), taking over from Tim Bartlett, who is taking up a position with TRI Hospitality Consulting in Madrid. Dawson has a proven track record in the attractions business, having spent seven years as director and general manager of Thorpe Park, four years as managing director of Dreamland Leisure and two years as parks and attractions director of LeisureHub.com. He has been involved with BALPPA since 1989 and was chair between 1994 and 1996. He has also served as a board member of IAAPA for there years and BACTA for four. 'I am delighted with the opportunity to follow Tim Bartlett in the chief executive's chair,' he said. 'I have been very much involved in the affairs of BALPPA through my 12 years on the management committee and hope to continue Tim's sterling work on behalf of our members.'
