Fusion has invested £750,000 in three leisure centres after winning the contract to manage the sites in October.

Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre, Weald Sports Centre, and Putlands Sports and Leisure Centre have each received new gym equipment and aesthetic improvements.

A wider range of classes have been added to studio timetables and the marketing has also been redesigned to be more engaging and to encourage the community to drop into the centres.

A lounge area for members has been developed at the Tunbridge Wells centre, as well as a new programme to maximise use of its swimming pools. The site has also received a new ceiling in its pool hall.

This marks the first phase of investment for the charitable trust, which has a 10-year contract to manage the sites on behalf of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. Weald Sports Centre, and Putlands Sports and Leisure Centre were previously managed by Leisure Connection.

The changes have already resulted in significant increases in membership, says CEO of Fusion, Peter Kay. “We were keen to make a difference right from the start at Tunbridge Wells and the first three months have been enormously encouraging. We have a second phase of investment over the next six months.”
