Ipswich Town granted permission to build new stand
Premiership football club, Ipswich Town, has been granted planning permission to construct a new north stand at its stadium, raising the ground capacity to 30,000. Ipswich Town, who have performed well since being promoted to the Premiership last season, and still in contention for a Champions League place next year, received unanimous approval from the Ipswich Borough Council Planning Committee. The permission comes with various conditions, including the establishment of a Green Travel Policy and the purchase of the nearest house to the development. Ipswich Town Chair, David Sheepshanks, welcomes the opportunity to proceed with the development: We have invested in some of the best architects in the world to produce a design that combines the club's requirements for added capacity and better facilities, with the need to produce an attractive exterior that will enhance the local area. Work on the £25m investment begins at the close of the football season next weekend.
