Kingston University in London has reopened its fitness centre following a £0.5m revamp.

Additions to the 300sq m (3,230sq ft) facility include air conditioning, refurbished changing rooms, improved lighting and a new sound system, as well as the installation of 65 pieces of Life Fitness equipment.

Phil Muschamp, director of sport at the university, said: “By investing in sports and recreation, and providing high-quality facilities and a pleasant environment to exercise in, we hope to encourage participation and promote healthy living.”

The refurbishment of the gym – which is open to both students and members of the local community – took seven weeks and was managed by Summit Leisure Solutions. Details:
