London Tourist Board launches energy saving scheme
The London Tourist Board and Convention Bureau (LTB) has launched the Hospitable Climates scheme this month at the Mayfair Intercontinental Hotel in London.
The scheme is designed to help the London hospitality industry cut its overheads. London hotels alone consume an estimated £47m a year in energy and get through over 7.5m light bulbs a year. Hospitable Climates intends to help businesses save up to 40 per cent in energy costs, potentially £19m across the whole hotel industry.
The environmental initiative has been designed for the government's Energy Efficiency Best Practice programme by the HCIMA. The scheme is being promoted by LTB in London, in partnership with the Government Office for London.
Wendy Neville, LTB's director of development says there has never been a better time to become more energy efficient: It makes strong economic and envrionmental sense for the industry to embrace the Hospitable Climates scheme.
