Nine out of 10 women depressed by their body

Nine out of 10 women say they are unhappy with their bodies, according to a survey by Top Santé magazine.

In a survey of 3,000 women with an average age of 38, 90 per cent felt unhappy with their shape and size and that their body image depressed them. Almost three quarters said they thought about their shape every day and 80 per cent though their lives would 'improve considerably' if they were happy with their weight and shape.

The survey also revealed 86 per cent of women had dieted at some point in her life, and that one in 10 was on a constant diet.

Editor of Top Santé, Juliet Kellow, says that living in an age of perfection makes the majority of women feel physically inadequate, even those at a healthy weight.
