Northgate Arena in Chester has been named best national performer for sports and leisure facility management at the 2005 Performance Network Awards.

Presented by the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE), the awards judged 330 leisure facilities across the country on a range of performance indicators including business efficiency, customer satisfaction and staff management.

Northgate Arena is managed by Chester and District Sports and Recreation Trust (CADSART), which was formed in 1996 and also operates the Westminster Park golf course and sports facilities, Christleton Sport Centre and Malpas Sport Centre.

Bob Dutton, chair of CADSART, said: “We are delighted to receive this award, it demonstrates the commitment of our dedicated staff to all our customers and confirms that the Northgate Arena is in the top flight of leisure centres in this country.

“We intend to build upon our success and continue to provide facilities that attract as wide a client base as possible.”
