Osmond joins bid for Groucho Club
Punch Taverns boss Hugh Osmond has added his name to the Kapital Partners bid for the Groucho Club, led by Rupert Hambro, Joel Cadbury and Matthew Freud. Hotelier Willy Bauer and Osmond's Punch co-founder, Mark Jones, have also joined the consortium, offering the 350 shareholders, including Lord Archer, Salman Rushdie and actor Steve Martin, 266.75p a share, valuing the Soho club at £11.8m. The addition to the consortium or the leisure entrepreneurs further strengthens the partnership set up by Hambro, Cadbury and Freud last month and weakens Benjamin Fry's rival all-share offer, already rejected by the board. The Kapital Partners bid has been sent to the board, owner of 40 per cent of the company, and the move to buy the club has been agreed.
