A new health and fitness development in London is using inspirational music to help push exercisers further when taking part in its specially-curated cycling workouts.

Psycle London – the brainchild of former Fitness First CEO Colin Waggett – uses high intensity interval and low impact exercises conducted over 45 minutes on a bike.

The use of specialised music is essential to the workout, with specific playlists created for each session, in order to push participants using lyrically-driven and motivational songs.

The workout is designed to strengthen the body's core and tone key body parts, as well as burning maximum calories during the process.

Light hand weights are used in order to tone the upper body, this is then combined with movement out of the cycle’s saddle, in order to raise people’s heart rates and engage muscles groups during the workout.

Those taking part are also given a pair of cleated shoes before the exercise begins, which help to increase the connection between the bike and feet. This is thought to help encourage more lean and toned legs, without leading to increased mass in the thigh region.

Guests can also make use of Psycle’s food and nutritional advice, which sees the offering partnering with healthy meal delivery services The Detox Kitchen and Pure Earth to provide pre and post workout nutrition.

Psycle works on a pay-as-you-go basis, with users buying tokens granting them access to classes with instructors.
