An impressive line-up of leading public health figures will take to the stage at the Emirates Stadium in London next month for ukactive’s 2015 National Summit.

Last year’s event featured a high-profile keynote from Labour’s Andy Burnham and this year’s 5 November Summit is expected to provide further fireworks as a number of frontbenchers deliver their vision for the future of the physical activity sector.

Former health secretary Andrew Lansley will chair the event, which is set to feature keynote speeches from public health minister Jane Ellison, sports minister Tracey Crouch and Sport England CEO Jennie Price.

The event will also serve as the launchpad for ukactive’s latest report, Blueprint for an Active Britain, which will present ukactive’s findings and recommendations for a more active society. The topic will be explored in a variety of themes that will encompass an integrated approach for getting people active.

“This year’s event mixes together all of the key elements that are at the top of our sector’s priority list, such as the Sports Strategy Consultation, Obesity Strategy and the Trailblazer Apprenticeship Reform Programme, and provides real-world insight into how the government and stakeholder landscape will shape business plans and organisational strategies in the year to come,” said ukactive executive director Steven Ward.

“It remains the only event where you can see the public health minister, Unilever’s head of health, the founder of Parkrun and the Skills Funding Agency’s director of apprenticeships on the same billing. It shows once again that our sector matters and has grown its reach in so many directions.”
