Pure Gym, the low-cost health club chain founded in 2009, has announced plans to continue its UK expansion with the opening of its second site in Wolverhampton on 24 May.

Stephen Clarke, who oversaw the launch of the first Pure Gym site in the city more than two years ago, has been appointed gym manager of the new Birmingham Road facility.

The new Wolverhampton club joins other clubs due to open in the West Midlands region in the coming two months, with West Bromwich and Walsall also set to host Pure Gyms.

Pure Gym Wolverhampton South will span 22,000sq ft (2,044sq m) and contain 220 pieces of equipment, such as Matrix's LIVESTRONG spin bikes and Bodycore platforms.

Clarke said: "I've really enjoyed the challenges involved in running a successful branch whilst championing the Pure Gym concept and helping our members achieve their fitness goals.

"We are revolutionizing the fitness industry, so the thrill of launching and developing a second gym in Wolverhampton is a very exciting prospect indeed."

Pure Gym currently has 22 clubs in its UK portfolio and is aiming to open a further 23 by the end of the year.
