Glasgow’s Tulip Inn hotel is supporting the Goalseekers national pilot scheme for young people, by hosting training sessions and group meetings.

The scheme, backed by Careers Scotland, aims to boost motivation and self-esteem among disadvantaged teenagers. Supported also by Glasgow City Council, the initiative uses team sports and other leisure activities to build confidence and teach life skills.

The course is being run by All Sports Partnerships, a group of coaches and educationalists committed to improving opportunities for teenagers with employment problems.

The scheme uses Scottish football coaches and a combination of football training and water-based activities to change individual attitudes and show the benefits of being part of a team.

Stephen Joyce, a director at All Sports Partnerships says there is an urgent need to raise confidence levels among some teenagers: “I am very grateful to the Tulip Inn for supporting the Goalseekers project, which is the first of its kind in Scotland. The hotel’s help with this work is greatly appreciated.”

Golden Tulip is planning a £33m expansion programme over the next three years and aims to launch 35 hotels – a combination of new builds and existing developments, throughout the UK and Ireland. Details: www.goldentulip.com
