Topnotch unveils Tower 42 and buoyant results
Topnotch has opened its 17th club at the 600ft Tower 42 landmark in the heart of London's financial district.
Following a £2m redevelopment, the 13,500sq ft club opened last week across three floors and follows the Topnotch blueprint of a club that 'dares to be different' by offering a funky décor aimed at the 20-45 professional market. 'Sophisticated pop' videos run non-stop on Topnotch TV and the spinning room takes you into a UV-lit atmospheric 'galaxy'.
Chief executive Matthew Harris told Leisure Opportunities that there is plenty of room in the market for Topnotch's offering: The demand for memberships has been huge as we have a niche offering in the market. If you come in to work out at a Topnotch club then you can escape the outside world and focus on being entertained.
Meanwhile, it was further good news for the company on release of its annual results. In the year to 30 April 2001, turnover increased by 157 per cent to £9.2m and operating profits before expenses and exceptionals rose by 41 per cent to £243,000.
Further clubs are in the pipeline for Northampton, Lewisham, Colchester and Redditch.
