Upmarket club for uptown
A prestigious new health and fitness concept is to open in London's Chelsea Harbour.
The brainchild of husband and wife Simon and Karen Fry, and three times world champion kick boxer, Cengiz Dervis, KX Gym (pronounced Kickz), is a new breed of private member's club.
We want to provide a serious workout centre, said Simon Fry of the 16,000sq ft club which comprises cardio and resistance equipment, four studios for cycling, martial arts and other classes as well as five treatment rooms focusing on sport, remedial and holistic massage. Each piece of cardio equipment will have its own TV screen and will use Fitlinks, the web-based fitness monitoring system.
The founders say they've developed a concept that is currently lacking in market by creating an outstanding club in beautiful surroundings. KX Gym is more than a full service health club, it is a lifestyle experience, said Fry.
Other facilities include a café, juice bar and a shop selling a clothing range designed exclusively for KX. The club is due to open in January 2002.
