Youth and children's activity specialist, ZigZag, has been named the official trade sponsor for the Fitness Industry Association's (FIA) Adopt A School scheme, with Norwich Union initiative.

The company, which offers a range of youth activity solutions including the Activ8 programme of instructor-led, circuit-style classes in schools and leisure centres, will sponsor the initiative until 2005.

Managing director of ZigZag, Gillian Maskell, said the initiative was a real chance to make a difference to children’s health.

“We believe that children’s and youth fitness programming is something that actively needs to be addressed to help combat the decline of sport in schools and sedentary lifestyles,” she said.

Health and fitness operators are ideally placed to help parents find safe places for their children stay fit with constructive programmes. Our role is to provide operators with the means to run quality activities for all ages.”
