Real estate services firm Cushman and Wakefield (C&W) has announced that it has secured three new UK locations for low-cost health club operator The Gym Group.

The acquisitions represent a total floorspace of around 50,000sq ft (4,645sq m) and includes sites in Stockwell and Wood Green - both in London, as well as Luton.

First launched in Hounslow, London, in mid-2008, The Gym Group has now grown its UK estate to 23 clubs and is aiming for further growth to 35 sites by the end of 2012.

In addition to the three latest acquisitions, new Gym Group sites are also due to launch in Bournemouth, Edinburgh, Swansea and Glasgow.

Thomas Rose, an associate at C&W's leisure and restaurant team, said: "The Gym Group continues to be at the forefront of the low-cost health and fitness sector.

"At a time when the market is growing rapidly, The Gym Group is acquiring units based on long-term potential and sound business principles."
