Scottish culture and external affairs secretary Fiona Hyslop has set out details of nationwide celebrations due to take place as part of the Year of Creative Scotland 2012.

Creative Scotland, the agency responsible for promoting Scottish arts and culture, will invest £6.5m of National Lottery funding into the programme, which spans the entire 12 months.

Among the highlights planned is the RockNess Express, which will provide a bespoke train service to the RockNess festival from London King's Cross and offer on-board music.

The City of Literature Trust is planning dynamic projections along the streets of Edinburgh in early 2012, which will use material from the Scottish Enlightenment period.

Meanwhile, a Celebration of Contemporary Scottish Printmaking at Traquair House is set to help introduce the discipline to a wider audience and support tourism in the Borders region.

Hyslop said: "The Year of Creative Scotland 2012 will be a spectacular celebration of our nation's culture and creativity on both the international stage and across our communities."
