The Restaurant Group (TRG) is looking to deliver "further profitable progress" this year, despite challenging trading conditions, after it reported turnover growth for 2011.

In the 52 weeks ending 1 January 2012, the restaurant operator said revenue had increased by 7.25 per cent, while like-for-like sales were up 3.25 per cent on the comparable period.

TRG also saw "strong levels" of like-for-like sales growth for November and December, while trading at 25 new sites opened in 2011 were "above expectations".

Andrew Page, the group's chief executive officer, said: "We faced challenging trading conditions in 2011 but - despite this - revenues were up by 7.25 per cent and like-for-like sales were 3.25 per cent higher.

"While we expect trading conditions to remain tough in 2012, the TRG team will be working to deliver another year of profitable progress."
