£6.5m Scarborough Spa overhaul complete
A performance by the internationally renowned Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra has helped to mark the completion of a major £6.5m refurbishment of the Scarborough Spa complex.
Scarborough Borough Council (SBC) has led an extensive transformation of the Grade II*-listed concert hall, which has included an expansion of the Grand Hall's stage area. Access lifts for stage sets have been installed to enable the venue to put on more shows and performances, while the communications and air conditioning systems have been improved.
The project, which aims to establish Scarborough Spa as a multi-purpose entertainment and conference venue, has been funded using the local authority's reserve funds. Spa sales development manager Jo Ager said: "We have a very busy year ahead and it is fantastic that we can now offer an even better experience at the Spa for the local community, visitors and business clients."
