Job description:
Position Summary:
Responsible for the efficient management of commercial areas within SEA LIFE® aquarium. The areas of responsibility are the Ocean Journey Café, the Retail gift shop and the after-hours in-house cleaning crew. This position is responsible for operating budget adherence and revenue generation, as well as the management and development of all MCs working in these areas. This position will work closely with LEGOLAND® California Resort F&B, Retail, Hotel, and PR management to explore and implement programs while generating additional revenue to the SEA LIFE® aquarium. The position is also the Safety Ambassador for the SLA – making sure that all depts. are in compliance with Resort safety policies.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for training, development, performance management, team building, and other people management activities. Develops departmental staff plan based on general budget guidelines. Promotes and demonstrates the Merlin and LEGO® values and culture through words and actions.
2. Ensures that locations of responsibility maintain exceptional guest service, safety and cleanliness standards.
3. Controls operating expenses for OJC and SEA LIFE® gift shop.
4. Responsible for comparing actual and budgeted commercial figures on a daily basis and acting upon them. Oversees ordering, waste and usage of all goods.
5. Works closely with LLCR/SLA Buyer(s) to maximize sales and keep inventory at acceptable levels. Oversees receiving/approval all deliveries and invoices while documenting breakages or losses correctly. Keep stock rooms organized and secure at all times.
6. Ensures that each commercial location promotes the sale of all goods in order to meet forecasted SPH figures. Sets up-selling goals for location teams.
7. Communicates operational and financial objectives to the staff on a daily basis.
8. Monitors labor hours and ensures that payroll reports are accurate.
9. Monitors handling of cash and inventory control, referring any issues for investigation to SEA LIFE® Manager and/or LP. Acts as a key contact and training leader in all areas of loss prevention and waste, in accordance with Merlin and LEGOLAND® policies.
10. Ensure the OJC meets the highest food quality and cleanliness standards through the use of regular internal audits.
11. Works with Marketing/PR and SEA LIFE® Manager to ensure that commercial promotions are explored and implemented.
12. Assist with special events and other activities as required; work with SEA LIFE® Management team to promote and obtain special event business.
13. Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, work well under pressure, juggle multiple priorities, exercise good judgment and meet deadlines with professionalism.
14. Builds strong working relationships with all vendors/suppliers.
15. Organizes and holds regular briefings and meetings for all MCs. Is responsible for the accuracy and security of all personnel files, training information and attendance records.
16. Participates in the Park Duty Manager program as necessary.
17. Other duties as assigned.

Background and Experience:
Requires two years supervisory experience in a commercial location (F&B and/or Retail). Must have a proven track record in people development and leadership skills. Experience with theme Park commercial operations is preferred. Thorough knowledge of cash handling and inventory/sales auditing is required. Reasonable knowledge of point of sale automated systems is required. Experience in food and culinary design with knowledge of restaurant operations (specifically LLCR) is highly preferred. Must possess strong communication skills, both in verbal and written format. Must be customer service focused and have an understanding of customer expectations. Ability to use office equipment, word processing and spreadsheet systems.
