Active Nation celebrates hat trick of Swim England awards

Aquatic excellence at Active Nation's flagship diving venue, Quays Swimming and Diving Complex, has been rewarded with a hattrick of coveted prizes at the recent Swim England Awards.
Club of the Year, Long Service Award in Aquatics and Diver of the Year were all awarded to the Southampton Diving Academy (SDA), based at The Quays.
With over 130 divers to its name, 'Club of the Year' Southampton Diving Academy is home to newcomers through to Olympians, aged seven to 60+. As one of GB's five Talent Development Centres for diving, the club produced 10 international divers in the 2019 season alone, at Junior and Senior level combined.
The club has also created four Olympians - Blake Aldridge, Olympic finalist 2008; Stacie Powell, 2012 Olympian and double Olympic finalist 2008; Peter Waterfield, four times Olympian and Olympic silver medallist 2004; Chris Mears, double Olympian and Olympic Champion 2016. Outside of the pool, Gary Hunt is the reigning World Champion in the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series and FINA high diving World Champion.
Active Nation is incredibly proud of their Diving Development Manager, Lindsay Fraser, winner of the 'Long Service Award in Aquatics'. Fraser holds many titles to her name including British Olympic Team member in 1980/1984 and British Team Manager for the Olympic Games in 2000/2004. Fraser was also a Team GB coach in Beijing and London.
Coach to four Olympians including gold medallist Chris Mears and silver medallist Peter Waterfield, Fraser has led the Southampton Diving Academy to continued success since its launch in January 2000, coaching over 20 International divers.
Awarded the Helen Rollason medal as the top female UK Coach of the Year in 2004, Fraser has transferred her expertise and passion for the sport into her work with the South East Region, formed in 2005.
The third and final award for SDA went to 17 year old, Tanya Watson, Diver of the Year. With nine years of diving experience, Tanya's 2019 season boasts Grand Prix finalist in Germany and European Championships finalist in Kiev, Ukraine. She took part in her first World Championships in South Korea and has gained invaluable experience leading into 2020.
