FTH Theatre receives further £45,000 from emergency Covid-19 funds

Falkirk Community Trust is delighted to announce that Falkirk Town Hall (FTH Theatre), has received further funding of £45,832 in the latest round of emergency Covid-19 funds from the Scottish Government through Creative Scotland.
The Performing Arts Venues Relief Fund (PAVR) is helping performing arts venues to remain solvent, return staff from furlough, and enable new artistic commissions from freelance artists.
So, after 17 months of closure, plans are now in place to reopen Falkirk Town Hall (FTH).
It is vital that the venue remains a centre for cultural activity in the Falkirk Council area and as such, at this time, The Performing Arts Venues Relief Fund will enable FTH to develop exciting programmes that will resonate with local audiences and welcome them back to the theatre.
Falkirk Town Hall is one of 331 cultural organisations and performing arts venues across Scotland have received a total of £17million in the latest round of emergency Covid-19 funds from the Scottish Government through Creative Scotland
Lesley O’Hare, Culture and Libraries Manager said: “I am delighted that we have again been successful in securing this vital funding from Creative Scotland. This money is a real lifeline and will enable us to retain our technical and front-of-house teams and allow us to prepare for relaunching our wide-ranging theatre programme. Although we’ve adapted to continue to engage with our audiences online, there is no substitute for a live performance. We are excited to be planning to reopen at last, but we are still mindful of our duty of care, so will have rigorous procedures in place to keep our audiences and staff safe.”
Panto is back
Panto is back at Falkirk Town Hall Theatre this Christmas with the magical Beauty and the Beast. It is not just Panto that is back – FTH favourites Barbara Bryceland, Scott Watson and Derek McGhie are returning for more festive fun from Friday 10th to Wednesday 29th December 2021.
Having lived in Falkirk for 40 years now, the town is very close to Barbara’s heart, and she is delighted to be back performing and cannot wait for the school shows.
“A Falkirk’s bairn’s audience is second to none – they make so much noise we often struggle to hear ourselves on the stage. They know how to get involved and enjoy themselves.”
Lesley O’Hare, Culture and Libraries Manager, added: “I’m delighted to be welcoming our audiences back to FTH Theatre and looking forward to seeing happy faces and hearing laughter as we once again experience the magic of panto and live theatre. We are looking forward to working with Imagine Theatre as well as the wonderful cast to make new festive memories for the people of Falkirk and beyond.”
