Job description:
GLL is looking for a Business Manager in Northern Ireland to lead the operation of our multi-site leisure estate in Belfast and grow and develop our Social Enterprise. Responsible for overall commercial performance, sales, product development, and community and sport development, you'll provide visible, inspirational and innovative direction to your team and colleagues in line with GLL's vision and values.

GLL is the largest public leisure provider in Northern Ireland and we're proud to be working in partnership with Belfast City Council who are investing £105 million in the city's leisure services through a 10-year transformation programme. We're currently responsible for the operation of 14 'Better' leisure centres in Belfast, welcoming in excess of two million visits per year and servicing a diverse membership of over 26,000. There is an exciting programme of major investment already agreed across the next three years, including three new leisure developments.
As Business Manager, you'll be managing the health, sport and product teams in a multi-site environment. Accustomed to high-level performance, you'll lead the continuous growth and improvement of the GLL brands, service, business and community engagement across the region.

You'll be a successful leader within a leisure, sport or cultural services setting with experience of successfully delivering commercial objectives. Exceptional knowledge of business performance is key to this role, as is the ability to use KPIs to drive improvement and growth. Job description:
GLL is looking for a Project Manager on a 2 year fixed term contract in Belfast to help us grow our Social Enterprise business in Northern Ireland and manage key, high-profile projects such as mobilisation of new leisure centres including design, programming and operations. GLL is the largest public leisure provider in Northern Ireland, so you'll be integral to helping us change leisure in the region, with some high-profile and exciting developments planned across the next three years. At present, we operate 14 leisure centres that generate over 2 million visits per year and a diverse membership base that we intend to grow even further, welcoming more people into our state-of-the art facilities.

The Leisure Project Manager will play a key role in the leisure transformation programme across Belfast, which we're doing in partnership with Belfast City Council, who have invested £105 million in transforming leisure across the city. As Leisure Project Manager, you'll provide a clear strategic framework that supports the delivery of the next three new-build facilities across the city. The Project Manager's role is to act as the “intelligent client”, working in partnership with Belfast City Council, by advising the project teams on design, programming and operations of the new leisure centres as well as overseeing the demobilisation of facilities. Your knowledge, experience and network of contacts will be key to you seeking out opportunities to develop GLL's growth agenda.

An experienced Project Manager, you'll be able to effectively manage multiple projects and relationships with our partners as well as analysing business issues, preparation of business / local financial plans, budgets and detailed, accurate reporting. You should have thorough knowledge of leisure centre operations, programming and financial management and the ability to translate your understanding into the projects you'll be managing. You should also have up-to-date knowledge of developments in the leisure, fitness and lifestyle sectors along with the use of leisure centre technologies and electronic booking systems to advance positive customer experiences. This award-winning scheme is a two year placement and development programme that aims to fast-track talented people into Manager roles and produce the senior leisure managers of the future. Many of our current Directors, General and Assistant Managers came through the Trainee Manager Scheme.

Leisure managers operate within complex business environments and are responsible for leisure centre operations, leadership, customer experience, technical, programming, marketing and financial management. The Trainee Manager scheme helps you to prepare for these challenges.

This demanding two-year training scheme for graduates includes practical work experience in all aspects of leisure provision. You’ll complete customer-facing placements such as Fitness Instructor, Lifeguard and Customer Service Advisor within a structured programme in year one and supervisory placements in year two. In addition, you’ll complete statutory, management and in-house training throughout the two years, helping you gain industry-standard qualifications. You’ll also experience working within a central support team and gain experience in project management and human resources.

You’ll be guaranteed a permanent management position up to Assistant Manager level on completion of the scheme.

You’ll need a degree or equivalent qualification (a sports, leisure or business-related qualification is an advantage) and be:

GLL is looking for a part time (30 hours per week) Health Referral Facilitator to work across our Centres in Bath and North East Somerset.

If you have a genuine passion for supporting people, join us as an Exercise Referral Instructor and help to improve people's level of fitness, health - and ultimately, quality of life. GLL is a charitable social enterprise and the UK's largest leisure provider, partnering with local authorities to run leisure centres, swimming pools and world-class sporting venues. Healthwise is our GP Referral Scheme, designed to support a wide range of people. NHS patients can be referred for many reasons - from diabetes and heart disease to depression, dementia or post-operative recovery. Rehabilitation or weight loss are just the start. As an Exercise Referral Instructor, you'll help us to educate people in changing their entire lifestyle.

It all begins with an assessment. People can be nervous, so you'll need a patient, calm approach that puts them at ease in the gym environment. After identifying their needs, you'll then demonstrate the equipment and design a bespoke programme, from simple exercises to group classes. Naturally, you'll chart their progress too - taking measurements, discussing how they're getting on and showing just how far they've come. Rather than short term results, your focus will be on helping people to gain the tools and confidence they need to take responsibility for their own body and health.

Ideally, we're looking for an experienced Exercise Referrer, but the role would suit Personal Trainers too - people inspired by the chance to make a difference (and enjoy a regular wage, too). If you're a fitness professional or someone with an academic background in a sporting discipline and relevant vocational experience who's confident, sensitive and able to inspire a wide range of people - often with low fitness and confidence levels - this is for you. That means you'll need to be REPS registered with an NVQ Level 3 Fitness Instructor, Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification (essential) and experience of delivering lifestyle interventions too.

We are working in partnership with Belfast City Council, who are investing £105 million in the city's leisure services through a 10 year transformation programme, running the Better leisure centres.

Are you an experienced Recreation Assistant (Lifeguard) looking for the next step in your career? If so, this could be the opportunity for you. GLL is recruiting a Senior Recreation Assistant to work at Cherry Hinton Village Leisure Centre in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.

Whilst on shift, you'll oversee a team of lifeguards, who you'll act as a mentor and role model to be responsible for some staff training. You'll have real attention to detail as you'll be ensuring the safety of our customers as well as the cleanliness of the pool environment. You'll be responsible for regular cleaning, maintenance and preparation of areas and equipment as appropriate, so you'll need to be hard working and have a conscientious attitude. Excellent communication and social skills are necessary as you'll often be the first point of contact for customers. Health and safety is paramount therefore attendance at regular pool training sessions is a must.

Ideally, you'll have your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) with up to date NPLQ training records and a First Aid certificate. It is desirable that you also have a Pool Plant Operators qualification.

Vale of White Horse Partnership is looking for a Swim School Supervisor to work 14 hours per week. Better leisure centres, operated by GLL, run the UK's largest public swimming lesson programme in the UK, with over 140,000 pupils attending lessons each week and over 1,500 swimming teachers working to provide invaluable life skills to our customers.

The Swim School Supervisor is the link between our customers, the swimming teachers and the leisure centre team. This key role provides technical support to the front-of-house team via sales and administration of the swim school and helps to ensure a high-quality, consistent level of customer service. Your role will bring organisation and structure to the swim school as you develop a plan to manage the programme, lead and inspire your swimming teachers and grow the income and number of pupils learning to swim. This role offers a real opportunity to affect positive change, get closer to GLL's National Aquatics Team and increase your earnings.

You'll no doubt be an experienced swimming teacher looking for the next stage in your career and be full of ideas of how to make things better. We'll offer in-house training to support you with your role as well development opportunities such as 'train the trainer' and the STA Tutor training programme. Supporting the smooth running of a leisure centre, you'll ensure the health, safety and enjoyment of customers and colleagues alike.

There's no such thing as a typical day as an Assistant Manager. That's what makes this hands-on role so special. Here, you could be doing anything from producing reports, doing building checks, advising Duty Managers and ensuring compliance with health, safety and fire procedures, to inspiring your team to be the best they can be.

As Assistant Manager, you'll need to be on the ball with all aspects of your centre, area and the leisure industry as a whole - from managing teams to consumer trends. So, if you're ready to go the extra mile, in return, we'll develop and train you to sharpen your skills in this diverse Assistant Manager role.

Highly organised with budgeting skills and a can-do attitude, you'll be a fast learner who's focused on customer care. Written and verbal communication skills will be vital too, as you build relationships with customers, colleagues and contractors. We're also looking for an Assistant Manager with a leisure degree or equivalent experience, NPLQ, PPO (desirable), Pool Management Qualification, FAAW deep knowledge of leisure centre operations and a track record of managing in a busy wet/dry leisure centre.

If you love sport and fitness, a Leisure Team Member Apprenticeship with GLL could be just the ticket for you. This apprenticeship will give you all the skills, qualifications and knowledge to start your career in leisure. Your training with GLL College will give you the qualifications to work as a Fitness Instructor, Lifeguard and Swimming Teacher, so at the end of the 18-month programme, you'll be able to take your career in a direction you love.
