Job description:
We are LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester and we are part of the magical Merlin Entertainments!

Right now we’re on the look-out for a Duty Manager to be at the heart of our daily operations and to make sure that every day goes smoothly and our guests have a Bricktastic experience.

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is based in the iconic Trafford Centre and this exciting role offers a unique career opportunity in the most super-mega-awesome fun environment you can imagine!

About the role
Your typical day (if you can call it that) will begin with completing a full walk round the attraction, ensuring it is clean, safe, presentable and just as it should be ready for opening. Leading daily team briefs, you'll gear the team up for the day, passing on LEGO love and all the need-to-know information to equip them for success.

You will be the first port of call across all areas of the attraction, interacting with our guests, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, always being one step ahead, anticipating operational challenges and putting solutions in place before they impact the visitor experience.

You'll be quick to react too if things don't quite go to plan, as you'll own the problem and put it right to recover the magic - BOOM! Providing memorable experiences will be at the heart of your role, and you will ensure that both the first and last impression our guests have of LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is truly memorable for all the right reasons.

Safety is at the top our list, so you'll always be on the look out and take the decisions necessary to protect our team members and our guests; this includes taking the lead in emergency situations such as fire evacuations. You'll also play a key role in our onsite cash management ensuring all processes and protocols are followed. Reporting to the Operations Manager you will have some leadership responsibilities too. Coaching, motivating and directing the teams to work effectively together to ensure a high level of service whilst promoting our multi-attraction tickets and driving Retail, Food & Beverage and other secondary spends, to deliver a magical Merlin experience.

This is a full time permanent role, working 5 days from 7 and as weekends and holiday periods are our busiest time this will include doing your fair share of weekends and bank holidays on a roster basis.

About you
It goes without saying that you'll have totally awesome experience of working in customer facing environments that put the customer at the heart of everything! You'll be able to demonstrate how your customer service skills are LEGOtastic and that you're a natural when it comes to interacting with people of all ages.

Friendly, supercharged and exuding enthusiasm, you'll make wicked-cool positive impression on our guests but also our operational teams. You'll thrive in a busy, 'every-day's-different' environment and love getting hands-on and not be phased by juggling many priorities at once.

Responsible, confident and full of initiative you'll be someone that can think on their feet, problem solve and be decisive. You can take the lead when the pressure's on and see problems as challenges that your proactive and innovative approach will find a solution for. You'll also be brimming with mind-bopping ideas to make our guest experience even better and be able to show us how you've done that in the past.

About the benefits
You'll enjoy holiday entitlement that increases with service length (starting with 28 days, inclusive of bank holidays, and rising to 33 days) and look forward to a great benefits package including a Group Personal Pension Plan, Merlin Magic Pass (giving free admission to all of Merlin’s attractions) an Employee Assistance Programme, Life Assurance, 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants, 40% discount online off of LEGO, and much more!

Perhaps the biggest benefit of joining us, are the amazing opportunities to advance your career. Merlin is a large, global, expanding business, with no end of curatorial, operational, or general management roles, so for an ambitious and talented individual looking to go much further with their career, we can provide the opportunities and the support to help you realise your potential.
