We are LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and SEA LIFE Manchester and we are part of the magical Merlin Entertainments!

Right now, we’re on the lookout for a creative, yet business-savvy Marketing Manager to join our senior team and take our super busy attractions based in the iconic Trafford Centre to new levels of success.

Who wouldn’t want to work in what can only be described as a giant box of LEGO?! Or where sharks and Giant Green Sea Turtles watch on as you go about your daily work!

About the role
Working with the General Manager, you will create and execute a marketing strategy which drives visitor volume to the attractions and delivers annual profit growth (EBITDA). You’ll create, own and execute the annual marketing plan, delivering budgeted visitation and revenue through a diverse range of channels including consumer, trade, events, schools and corporate bookings.

In this generalist marketing role with a wide remit covering all aspects of the marketing mix, you will be driving a fresh and exciting approach to the marketing function, combining long term strategy with insightful tactical activity to ensure we deliver on challenging visitor volume, revenue, market penetration and brand positioning objectives.

You will build and manage relationships with our PR, media buying and creative agencies. This really is a great opportunity to make an impact on two very exciting brands and to really take ownership of your own marketing plans and your own strategy. This is a full-time permanent role. Predominantly Monday to Friday, but you’ll need to be flexible with regards to weekends or bank holiday working as well as some early starts or late finishes to support marketing and PR activity as required.

About you
It goes without saying that you’ll have broad marketing experience, which includes everything from e-commerce, digital and social media, to traditional print advertising as well as PR. Ideally, you’ll have some B2B as well as B2C experience and you’ll have proven success at effectively managing agency relationships.

Make no mistake, marketing in Merlin is fast paced, requiring you to react quickly, innovate and balance tactical activity with longer term thinking. To succeed in our world, you’ll need to genuinely love the buzz of an ever-changing environment, juggling multiple tasks and projects and dealing with the odd curveball!

Merlin’s not about unlimited frivolous marketing budgets, so you’ll be creative, innovative and thrifty, creating plans that make every penny count. You’ll be full of ideas and fresh thinking, but you’ll back that up by logic, reasoning and sound thought processes. Whilst you’ll love executing amazing campaigns, you’ll also love to get stuck into the numbers and analyse what’s worked and what’s not.

Perhaps you’ve developed your generalist skills in stand-alone roles, or small businesses, or perhaps you’ve worked in larger organisations but in several different specialities, but what’s important is that you can demonstrate you can conceive and deliver a well-rounded marketing plan, where all the elements fit together.
