An exciting new climbing centre is being developed in Oldham which is planned to open in Autumn 2020. One of the largest in the North West, the centre will comprise an innovative mix of facilities including: climbing and bouldering walls; Clip ‘n Climb; indoor play; café; and meeting/party rooms. The overall size of the facility is 2,000sqm.

An early appointment is being made to enable the General Manager to assist the Directors and advisers in overseeing the development prior to opening.

This is a unique opportunity to manage Greater Manchester’s only purpose-built climbing and bouldering centre. We are looking for an experienced, commercially oriented leisure manager to drive the new multi-million pound climbing and bouldering facility in today’s increasingly competitive indoor commercial climbing and bouldering market.

As an experienced leisure professional you will be able to demonstrate an innovative approach to this exciting challenge and will be used to working to financial targets.

Key Responsibilities
The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the operation and will report to the Directors of the Trading Company. He/she will be responsible for the achievement of agreed financial and other targets (inter alia), staff management, customer care, climbing instruction, marketing, driving user numbers, retail, health & safety, establishing and maintaining a quality offer across the site.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential
• Educated to degree level or similar
• Minimum of 3 years in management position in the leisure industry
• Financial experience
• Excellent communication, motivational & leadership skills
• Team leader and player
• Be prepared to work evening & weekend shifts (as required)

Desirable
• Experience of a business start-up environment
• Climbing/indoor climbing interest/experience
• Marketing experience
• Retail experience
• Current 1st Aid Certificate

Hours of Working/Salary Package
• 37.5 hour week including evening & weekend work
• Competitive salary + performance related bonus
• 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
• Pension scheme
