The Active Apprentice Health & Well-Being Professional programme provides young people aged 16-24 with the opportunity to gain the technical qualifications employers value, alongside industry work placements where you will develop the necessary skills and behaviours to be a successful Health & Well-Being Professional.

Traineeship details
The work experience will take place in various centres local to Pitsea and will include practical experience across the many facets of a leisure business, such as poolside, fitness suite, cafeteria, coaching, reception etc.

This will include:
- Working on reception
- Lifeguard duty (upon completion of the NPLQ)
- Setting up sports equipment
- Working in the cafe
- Assisting with coaching sessions

You will be paid £12 a day whilst on the programme to cover your travel expenses.

This Traineeship work experience is part of an education and training programme that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core is the Work Preparation training, English and maths for those who need it, and a high-quality work experience placement.

Traineeships help unlock your great potential and give you the work preparation training, maths, English, Digital Skills and work experience needed to get an Apprenticeship or other job.

Are you currently not in a job? Do you have little or no work experience?

Are you aged 16 to 24 and qualified below Level 3 (A level)?

About traineeships

A traineeship is a course with work experience that gets you ready for work or an apprenticeship. It can last up to 6 months.

You can apply if you’re:
- eligible to work in England
- unemployed and have little or no work experience
- aged 16 to 24 and qualified below Level 3

You’ll get:
- a work experience placement
- help with English and maths (if you need it)

You won’t be paid, but you may be given expenses for things like travel and meals.

Training to be provided

The Heatlh & Well-Being Professional programme has two pathways you can choose from:
- Fitness
- Lifeguarding

Both pathways will include training in the following areas:
- Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
- Mental Health Awareness
- Child Protection
- Safeguarding
- Work experience in a leisure environment

The technical qualifications which will be completed on each pathway are as follows:
- Fitness - Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing
- Lifeguard - National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
