An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community Services area to cover a two year secondment vacancy as the Physical Activity and Wellbeing Manager. The post manages a small but highly successful team of up to ten team members. We work closely with many partners both locally and nationally including Sport England, National Governing Bodies of Sport, Active Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire County Council, Social Prescribers and across the Health, Education and Community sectors. The team have won many accolades and awards including being the first City/District Council to achieve Quest at the ‘Outstanding’ level.

We deliver key programmes and interventions with our partners including GO Active Families/Outdoors, Move Together, Healthy Place Shaping, You Move, Active Travel, Schools Programmes including Create and our Tennis Contract. We also work closely with our Leisure operator Fusion Lifestyle. We are currently developing our Thriving Communities Strategy which the post will support in its development.

As the Physical Activity and Wellbeing Manager you will use your Physical Activity, Health and Wellbeing expertise, excellent relationship building and leadership skills, to connect, collaborate and empower both partners and the local communities across the system. The role will help to reduce inequalities, increase diversity and enable more people to live a more active lifestyle.

Alongside having a strong understanding of the Physical Activity Sector, you will also have a good working knowledge of the health system and the ability to join them up. You will play a key lead role in local partnership meetings aligned to the Physical Activity and Health agendas.
