About the Role
The Y Club is the largest leisure facility in Manchester city centre and includes an 18m swimming pool, gym, sports hall, dance studio, sports clubs, and two unique Rugby Fives courts.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced leisure industry professional to manage all aspects of the Club's operations. Much of the focus will be working towards growing the gym membership, but the role also encompasses a broader perspective to promote the YMCA brand and exploit synergies with the Castlefield Hotel and the YMCA's Youth and Community programmes.

This position comes with a high degree of autonomy and you will have plenty of opportunity to bring and implement your own ideas. It is essential that you have previous experience of working at a high level in a similar environment, and have the drive and desire to get results.

About the Organisation
The Manchester YMCA was established in 1846 to provide health and wellbeing services to a growing urban population. Now based in the historic Castlefield basin, as well as the Y Club the YMCA runs Youth & Community programmes that help improve the lives of disadvantaged youth people throughout Manchester and Salford. Our trading subsidiary, the Castlefield Hotel, is on the same site offering 48 rooms of quality hotel accommodation together with bar and conference facilities.

Main Responsibilities
• Management of all aspects of a busy city centre leisure facility.
• Recruitment, induction and training of team members.
• Coordinating and developing the leisure offer, including classes and club activities.
• Seeking, monitoring and responding to member feedback in a timely manner, taking remedial action if necessary.
• Ensuring performance in all areas of operations meet and exceed standards.
• Working with the YMCA's Youth & Community team to develop charitable programmes and activities.
• Helping compile and manage budgets, controlling expenditure.
• Ensuring control systems and procedures are followed and are effective.
• Managing and developing physical resources (premises, plant & equipment) to ensure the property is well presented and functions efficiently.
• Responsible for all aspects of sales and marketing for the Club.
• Working with sales staff to set targets and monitor performance.
• Identifying business development opportunities.
• Working with the Castlefield Hotel team to generate revenue and exploit synergies.
• Managing the development and performance of all team members whilst demonstrating high standards of professionalism and integrity.
• Identifying training needs.

Essential
• Experience of working at a high level in a similar organisation and role.
• Proven record of effective people management.
• PC skills.
• Willing to work evenings and weekends, and provide emergency cover.
• Knowledge of health & safety regulations.

Desirable
• Knowledge of ClubWise membership system.
• Previous experience of developing sales and marketing activity.
• Lifeguard and first aid training.
• Knowledge of employment law.
• Knowledge of swimming pool operations.

Salary £30,000 p.a.
